Maca, known as the “Andean superfood”, is popular among the indigenous Andean people of Peru. Spring-grown Maca is a small root vegetable from the Maca plant, grown at an altitude of more than 3,500 metres. Traditionally part of the local diet, maca root has become a modern “superfood”. Maca has a rich flavour that goes well with cocoa, which is also a superfood. The powder of this root is rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Gelatinisation involves using heat to break down starch chains, which makes maca’s unique hormone balance phytochemicals more bioavailable (easily digested by the body). Gelatinised maca root is cooled and ground. Gelatinised Maca Root Powder is still 100% pure maca, but it is more concentrated than raw maca root powder because some of the moisture is removed during the gelatinisation process.
