MINERALS AND VITAMINS. Pearl pearls are rich in carbohydrates and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and calcium. Scientists have studied their properties and found that they contain almost all the biologically active nutrients needed by the human body.
MULTIPLE BENEFITS. The water in which the pearl barley is soaked is rich in gordecin, a natural antibiotic that treats skin diseases caused by fungi. Water also improves expectoration, tones, stimulates milk production in breastfeeding women and has a beneficial effect on the liver.
SOURCE OF FIBRE. The tubers have a high fibre content. Fibre contributes to the proper functioning of the digestive system and helps regulate bowel function. Fibre is not digested in the intestines, so as it travels through the gut it picks up food debris and other unnecessary substances and removes them from the body. This cereal can be called the body’s broom!
A NUTRITIOUS AND NOURISHING PRODUCT. Thanks to its high fibre and carbohydrate content, pearl barley dishes will keep you feeling fuller for longer. For this reason, they are highly recommended for people who are prone to obesity or who are trying to regulate their body weight.
MULTI-SPECIES PEARLS. Pearl pearl barley has a mild, natural flavour that makes it very versatile. It can be used to flavour and enrich various porridges, salads, soups and stews. Pearl pearls also make a wonderful side dish or bake a barley roast.
