From spicy Latin dishes to savoury Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, cuisine knows no boundaries. Although it is a small, simple seed, it has a special flavour that complements a wide variety of dishes. From curries to cheeses and sauces, cumin is an ingredient in many internationally popular dishes and is loved the world over.
Cumin seeds (Cuminum cyminum) are one of the best spices for healthy digestion. In India, its Sanskrit name literally means ‘stimulates digestion’. As well as adding flavour to food, cumine also stimulates digestion, promotes healthy absorption and removes toxins from the digestive tract.
Kumines are often described as having a strong, warm and earthy flavour, with a spicy, bitter-sweet aroma and light citrus notes. Cumin is usually compared to cumin as a slightly spicier alternative.
Although the colour and flavour of caraway varies from region to region, its taste is less influenced by its origin and more by its oil content. The higher the oil content, the more aromatic the cumin.
The essential oil content of cumin seeds varies from 2 to 5%, we offer premium seeds with 3 to 5% to ensure an intense flavour.
It is important to note that caraway seeds should be stored tightly sealed and protected from moisture.
