Sage essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of the Salvia officinalis (sage) plant. The name of this plant comes from the Latin word “Selvere”, meaning “to save”. Sage oil is a clear or pale yellow liquid with a fresh aroma. In aromatherapy, sage essential oil stimulates the mind while providing a sense of balance and calm. It is believed to be able to dispel negative emotions. It can also improve memory and relieve digestive and respiratory discomfort. When applied topically, sage oil helps to eliminate toxins, relieve pain from minor skin lesions and reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks, wounds and swellings. After dilution with sage base oil, it can be used on the skin, especially on acne, insect bites, stings, minor wounds, etc. c. The oil’s moisturising and soothing properties make it particularly beneficial for dry or irritated skin.
