Ilangilanga essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from freshly harvested flowers of the Cananga Odorata plant. Used in aromatherapy, ylang-ylang oil is thought to provide a sense of calm and relieve stress and tension. It is also known as a powerful aphrodisiac. Thanks to its deep, sweet and stimulating aroma, it is often used in perfumery compositions or as a fragrance in cosmetic products. When applied externally to the skin, ylang-ylang oil can help to balance and regulate sebum production, thereby preventing excessive oiliness or dryness of the skin and scalp. It is also believed to soothe skin inflammations and irritations. When added to a massage blend, ylang-ylang essential oil can help relieve physical and mental fatigue.
Ylang-ylang essential oil blends well with essential oils of bergamot, frankincense (boswellia), peppermint, grapefruit, sandalwood and vetiver.
